Unilok Co., Ltd. is a company located in the Namdong Industrial Complex in Incheon that specializes in producing industrial valves and piping (tube fittings). Unilok developed and domestically produced instrumentation valves and piping in 1984, which had previously been entirely dependent on imports from the United States and Japan.

Since then, Unilok has focused on research and development, supplying products to the plant, semiconductor, petrochemical, power plant, shipbuilding, and offshore plant industries, focusing on domestic and foreign EPC companies (company that performs engineering, procurement, and construction).

■10,000 types of products produced, 4.65 million valves and pipes produced annually

The global industrial valve and piping market size is approximately 5 to 7 trillion won. There are about 30 domestic manufacturers, and competition for construction orders is fierce.

Unilok manufactures and produces individual finished products and also participates in EPC projects for petrochemical and construction companies to produce customized products.

When participating in a project to build a production plant, the size of the factory varies, so the scale of product use also varies. KOC's 5 trillion won project carried out in Kuwait in 2012 required approximately 150,000 pipes.

There are approximately 10,000 types of products produced depending on size, shape, function, and role. Annual production is 4.65 million valves and piping. The standards for valve and piping technology are continuously increasing for high cleanliness, high corrosion resistance, and safety.

Since its founding, Unilok has devoted itself to research and development and has become the first domestic company to develop a technology that can maintain high cleanliness at the invisible nanometer level on the inner surface where the product flow path and fluid come into contact. Due to technology development and new product development, over 70 patented designs have been registered domestically and internationally over the past five years.

■Promote development of new technology IGS and promote localization

Based on this technology, Unilok supplies products to about 110 large and small companies in Korea, including Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, LG Display, Hyundai Engineering, and GS Engineering & Construction.

Overseas, mainly in the petrochemical field, products are exported to 44 companies in 32 countries, including the United States, South America, Russia, Europe, ASEAN, China, Austria, and Africa.

Unilok has only participated in a few projects over the past two to three years due to the global construction recession, but plans to target the global market through technology development and active overseas marketing. Since 2008, we have participated in about 60 projects ordered by large domestic and foreign owners.

As a new business, Unilok is developing IGS (Direct Gas System), a field related to ultra-clean product lines. IGS is monopolized by two companies worldwide, and there are no domestic manufacturers, so we are dependent on Japanese companies.

To expand participation in large-scale projects, Unirock is also promoting vendor registration for state-run oil companies in major oil-producing countries and global oil companies.
